12/24/10 Dear John Van Den Heuvel: I had a bit of a situation, and was getting nuisance phone calls on my cell phone, and decided on a plan of getting a replacement cell phone, using up the minutes on the old cell phone, and just not getting any more minutes for the old cell phone. I called you. Perhaps it was a year ago. I believe you wife answered, and you were not available. Then you returned my call. At the moment that happened, I was with an aquaintance of mine, Robert Byer, whom I was seeing off at Lineas Ejecutivas, a bus company that would take him to Los Angeles from El Paso, TX. I was somewhat distracted by Mr. Byer, and then also, when you returned my call, I think you identified yourself as John Heuvel, I figured out after the call, but which, at the moment you said that, didn't make sense to me. I didn't remember a John whatever, and somehow didn't put it together that this was John Van Den Heuvel returning my call. Sorry about that misunderstanding. We worked together at Therma-Wave in Fremont, CA., in 1992. I started working there at the same time as Mr. Peabody, think his first name was Phil. That man had a problem with a new Oriental engineer who got hired, Japanese, I think. There was friction between Mr. Peabody and the Oriental, and Peabody was let go. I was the guy with the beige Toyota long-bed pickup truck. You and I and others often went out to lunch together. There was a Chinese restaurant we often went to. Several months ago, I got a Compaq Presario laptop computer, and imported some files from a flash drive, one of which had names and addresses. Ran across that file today, and saw you listed there, and thought I'd drop you a line. Therma-Wave had been having trouble getting the product machines out the door within a reasonable and economical time frame. I believe that had a lot to do with the fact that they didn't have a good receiving inspection department. Parts came in from Melles Griot, and others, I guess, and it was just assumed that the supplier's parts met their specifications, which in some cases was probably the wrong assumption. Another problem was that when the engineers or technicians would finally identify a part as no good, then a Material Review Board would decide to put that part back in stock, where it would go into another product machine to cause problems again. I retired about five years ago, and I would guess that you're retired too. President Barak Obama told a huge lie on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009. It was the day he announced he was sending 30,000 more soldiers to Afghanistan. He spoke for about 30 minutes in a televised speech. In the early minutes of the speech, Obama said, "Islam is one of the world's great religions." NO IT'S NOT! Islam sends every one of its followers to hell. A great religion doesn't send its followers to hell. Now the Senate and House have voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." And Obama didn't know any better than to sign the repeal into law. If male and female homosexuals are allowed to openly serve in the U.S. military, it will weaken our military, and make the nation more vulnerable to our enemies. In discussing the subject on TV, Colin Powell said, "Attitudes are changing on this." So what, Mr. Powell? God's position has not changed. God says homosexuality is an abomination, and that homosexuals don't go to heaven. (I Cor. 6:9,10) Powell also said Obama is a Christian. No he's not. A Christian would know better than to let gay's serve openly in the military, and wouldn't have told that lie about Islam. One of the best Bible teachers I know is Kenneth E. Hagin, whose books are available at Rhema.org (click on "bookstore") Jesus said in John chapt. 3, "You must be born again." In other words, you must be born spiritually. That happens when a person hears the Gospel message that he needs a savior in the sight of God, and that Jesus is that savior, whom God raised from the dead, and says yes to Jesus' offer of salvation with a prayer. The Lord bless you. Fred Hoehn
