To Power Basic, Inc, Englewood, FL Attention: Jeff Daniels I sent this as an email, 12/11/10 12/10/10 Dear Jeff Daniels: Thank you for your letter, in response to my letter, which I guess I sent in Oct 2010. Your letter doesn't seem to be dated, but I think I received it 5 or 6 weeks ago at P.O. Box 781 in Omaha, NE. But now I'm in El Paso, TX at P.O. Box 2215, El Paso, TX 79951. My computer is a Compac Presario CQ62-209WM laptop with an AMD Athlon II dual-core processor for Notebook PC's P320 (2.1 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache), and the Windows 7 operating system. Several years ago, I purchased from you folks a Power Basic for DOS, version 3.5 compiler for about $150.00. I was living on 7th Street in Los Angeles at the time. I ordered by phone and used my credit card. It came with disk and two books, the User's Guide, and the Reference Guide. I do not quite see how your letter answers my question how to use my Power BASIC compiler on my Compaq Presario. Perhaps I need an upgrade, but I see that on your order form, on the blue flyer included with your letter, for an upgrade, you ask for the serial number of my compiler. I do not see a serial number on the disk that you sent me. I can read the ReadMe file on the disk, but while there is a warning not to give out publicly my software serial number, I don't know what that number is. No doubt you have a record of selling me the software. My name is Frederick E. Hoehn. What is the serial number of my current Power Basic Compiler, if I'm going to order an upgrade? But, as I mentioned in my letter, the software on my disk won't install on the Compaq Presario. It seems, on the orange flyer that you sent, there is a 50 per cent off introductory offer. I would like to take advantage of that discount. As a retired person, I don't want whichever compiler is your Cadillac model. The Power Basic for DOS version 3.5 that I already have would be just fine, if it would work on the Compaq Presario. One of your compilers let's me write applications that are Windows-like. No, that's not what I want. I'll write simple software that opens text files as input, processes data, and outputs text files. I see that I can get the software downloaded electronically. No, I want you to send me the compiler on a disk, with also a hardcopy manual, not manual on the internet. So, which of the Power Basic compilers is the most elementary and least expensive, with the 50 per cent discount, that will work on my Compaq Presario with Windows 7, that I can receive from you on a disk, with hardcopy manual, sent by ground transportation to a U.S. address? And what would be the price? Can you send it by U.S. mail to my P.O. Box, or would you need to have a street address? If all I need is an upgrade, then let's go that way, but I don't see a serial number on the disk that I have from you. I think the upgrade would have to be self-contained, since my current disk is not compatible with the Compaq Presario. Sincerely, Frederick E. Hoehn, P.O.Box 2215, El Paso, TX 79951.
