Typhoon Hits Philippines

It's been in the news a lot lately about a killer typhoon that hit the Philippines.  Many were killed.  Many more were displaced.  

Humanitarian aid is being sent to the Philippines.  The U.S. military is helping out.  

It was said that this was the worst storm of its kind, ever, in terms of destructive power.  

There has been talk about "Hundred Year Storms," meaning storms that occur, on average, only about every hundred years.  

The problem with that terminology is that some of these so-called "hundred year storms" are happening much more often than every hundred years, suggesting that the "hundred year" terminology is incorrect.  

In Luke 21:25, Jesus was talking about catastrophic future events, including "the sea and the waves roaring."

We are now in what the Bible calls, "the end times."  Drastic things will happen.  

This Philippine typhoon is not the end of the destruction.  There will be much more destructive weather, the sea and the waves roaring.  

 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars, and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring,
 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking at the things that are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Luke 21:25,26)  

It says, "men's hearts failing them for fear."  Heart attack is one of the main killers these days.

 1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.
 2 And Jesus said to them, "Don't you see all these things?  Truly I say to you, there won't be left here one stone on another, that won't be thrown down."
 3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be?  And what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?"
 4 And Jesus answered them, "Make sure that no man deceives you.
 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many.
 6 And you'll hear of wars and rumors of wars.  Make sure you're not troubled, for all these things must happen, but the end is not yet.
 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places.
 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
 9 Then they'll deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you, and you'll be hated by all nations for my name's sake.
 10 And then many shall be offended, and shall betray each other, and shall hate each other.
 11 And many false prophets shall arise, and deceive many.
 12 And because sin shall be abundant, the love of many shall grow cold.
 13 But he that endures to the end, shall be saved.
 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come.
 15 Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken about by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoever reads, let him understand,)
 16 Then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains,
 17 Let him that is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house,
 18 Nor let him that is in the field return back to take his clothes.
 19 And woe to those who are with child, and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
 20 But pray that your flight won't be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath day,
 21 For then there shall be great tribulation, such as hasn't been since the beginning of the world until that time, no, nor ever shall be.
 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved, but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.  

We haven't seen the last of bad weather and catastrophes.  This is only the beginning.
